To manufacture high-precision metal meshes for high-end applications in filtration, screening technology, mechanical engineering, and the automotive and aerospace industries, we have developed a bespoke TM-5 torque motor to serve as the main drive for a weaving machine. The backlash-free direct drive enables precise motion control and ensures reliable, low-wear operation even under extreme load variations.
The HIWIN TM-5 torque motor, acting as a direct drive, performs the central drive function of the weaving machine. By eliminating the need for a mechanical gearbox, components prone to wear – which are subjected to heavy strain, particularly during the highly dynamic load cycles occurring in the weaving process – are avoided. This helps to prevent gearbox failures and the associated downtime. At the same time, the torque motor ensures precise rotational movement as well as direct and low-loss power transmission.
Thanks to its high dynamic response and control accuracy, the TM-5 can reliably execute the demanding motion sequences of the weaving process. This supports a consistently high fabric quality and creates the conditions for the production of high-precision metal fabrics.
